These time I'm more attracted by songs which would sound good during a goth night at a club and by songs with an 80s feeling..These as always are not necessarily goth songs. Rosetta Stone....Pure 80's Goth rock

Rosetta Stone were a British goth band formed in the mid 1980s by Porl King (guitar/vocals/keyboards) and Karl North (bass), plus their drum machine and synthesizer rack nicknamed "Madame Razor".

The band was named after the Rosetta Stone, an Egyptian historical artifact, and the band used much ancient mythological imagery, especially in their earlier work.





Their early style and first album reflected the jangly-guitar sounds of 1980s gothic rock, and their first big break came after live gigs supporting the then already well-established band The Mission.

Gas Masks..Intoxicating fashion

Gas masks, a symbol of the chemical war, of the fear of intoxication, contamination and consequently a symbol of death. This macabre accessory is a must-have in cyber gothic and industrial fashion. 

HISTORY OF GAS MASKS: 

A gas mask, also known as a respirator, is designed to protect the wearer from harmful airborne substances, including viruses, poisons, bacteria and toxic chemicals. A filter on the mask strips the air of contaminants as they pass through it. In the 1850s, Scottish chemist John Stenhouse created a mask capable of removing toxic gases from the air. Stenhouse's mask used a powdered charcoal filter to clean the air. Workers in London chemical factories wore the Stenhouse mask. According to other font, James Bert Garner invented the modern gas mask in 1915. Garner was a U.S. chemist concerned about chemical attacks in World War I. He had done an experiment that showed wood charcoal could absorb toxic chemicals. After sharing his information with the British, the technology helped create masks for British soldiers during World War I. When U.S. soldiers entered the war, they wore the Garner mask as well. Stenhouse and Garner are only two of many people credited with creating the gas mask.

This kind of gas mask covers half the face and has two filters on the sides. 

This last kind of mask provides full head coverage.

Of course then, there are other shapes. But these are the most common.

WHERE TO BUY GAS MASKS:

Usually real gas masks can be bought at flea, antique and stree markets. I got my full head gas mask for 10 euros at a street shop in Berlin, Germany.
 You can find fake gas masks and all the others kind of respirators with cool designs at alternative gothic shops in your country. Or you can either buy a real one and do the decor yourself!

Gas masks are also stylized as accessory like rings, pendants and even as bag.

Haunted Castles Part. 1

In every culture from ancients to present, there have been documented beliefs in ghostly spirits. Some people are fascinated by claims of ghosts, spirits, and even demons. There are unnerving places on this planet in which paranormal phenomenon is reported almost identically throughout history, such as castles that are centuries old. Some castles are seeped through with myths and legends, scary stories of spooks, and are believed to be haunted places where restless souls linger in the night. Some castles have been investigated by paranormal teams who record and offer “proof” of the hauntings. 

MOOSHAM CASTLE (THE WITCHES CASTLE)

Moosham Castle in Unternberg, Austria, has a terrible and accursed past. It was in this castle where Austria’s bloodiest witch trials took place. Untold thousands of young women who were accused of being witches were tormented and killed in torture chambers in the dungeon. Moosham Castle is now better known as Witches Castle.

PREDJAMA CASTLE

A castle built within a cave, now that is brilliant in terms of defense and offense. In Slovenia, Predjama Castle is known to date back to at least 1274. In the 15th century, a renowned robber baron fled the revenge of the Holy Roman Emperor and settled his family in this castle fortress. There ensued a long siege in which the castle was destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1511 before being destroyed by an earthquake. The castle was once again rebuilt in 1567 and has a secret natural shaft that leads out of the castle for supplies as well as when the robber baron needed a quick in and out for his robberies. With at least 700 years of violent history, Pedjama Castle is said to be extremely haunted.

The Octopus

 

The octopus is often found in gothic and steampunk fashion, worn as piece of jewellery or even tattooed on skin.

This brought us to wonder, what's the meaning of the octopus? Here's a little info about it !

 

 

An octopus symbolizes complexity, diversity, mystery, vision, intelligence, illusion, variability and insight.

 

"The complexity of the design, the diversity of the octopus’s persona and
the mystical illusion all add to the tattoos characteristics. These
features are associated with the octopus for several reasons. In ancient
mythology the number 8 is used as a major significance in a lot of
stories, in some cultures it is believed that 8 legged animals such as
spiders and octopus are one of the few survivors of those times. These
stories are were the octopus’s mystical appearance came from."





"The real octopus tattoo meaning comes from its ability
to grow back limbs. Much like humans octopus adapt to the conditions
they are in. If they are in a tough situation then octopus will use
their brain and respond intelligently much like a human would. The moral
of the story? That much like octopus humans can learn to disengage
things in their life that are not needed anymore. Bad habits and
addictions can all be changed. "

"The use of the octopus as symbol in steampunk fashion goes back to Jules Verne Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, where his writing was ahead of it's time. Submarines, air travel, advanced mechanical machinery etc... and since he was around during the Victorian era most of the technology he wrote about would fit well within the steampunk world.

 The Octopus it just has a great visual. Looks like it's wearing a helmet, goggles, and the tentacles remind me of the mechanics of gears etc.. "
