Alice is Dead - Game -

Don't worry nobody's dead. It's just a game I was playing to today. It's called ALICE IS DEAD. It's funny and weird at the same just like Alice in Wonderland (which this game is inspired by as you can see from the title already).

Here are the links where you can play the two first episodes of this game!

Just use your mouse and click on things to find object that can help you throughout the game and talk to the other characters. You might have to match things in you inventory together to create a better object to escape. Alice is Dead is an "escape game". It means you are trapped in a room and must find a way out. If you really can't find the way out, search in internet "alice is dead walkthrough" :)

I can't wait for the 3rd episode to come out !! :P

Burke & Hare

The Westport Muders (also known as the Burke & Hare Murders) were perpetrated in Edinburgh, Scotland from November 1827 to the 31st of October 1828. Between those dates William Burke and William Hare killed approximately seventen people. They were assisted in the murders by Burke's girlfriend Helen McDougal and Hare's wife Margaret. Margaret ran a lodging house adn Hare claimed that the first body he and Burke sold was that of a tenant who had died of natural causes. Instead of buring the body the pair took it to Edingurgh University and sold it to anatomist Dr. John Knox for seven pounds, ten shillings. The first victim to be murdered was Joseph the Miller, a sick tenant whom they intoxicated and then smothered. When they exhausted their supply of sick tenants they started luring people into the house out of the street. In February 1828 they lured Abigail Simpson odd the street and killed her in the same manner as Joseph. They received ten pounds for her corpse. After killing approximately twelve more people Burke lured a woman by the name of Marjory Campbell Docherty into the house on the pertense that his mother was a Docherty to. However he had to wait to murder her because a couple, James and Ann Gray were lodging there. Apparently there was quite a struggle with the last victim because the neighbors reported hearing a commotion that night after the Grays left. The next morning Mrs. Gray became suspicious because Burke would not let her approach a bed where she had left her stockings. That evening when everyone was out of the house the Grays looked under the bed and found Docherty's body. On their way to the police the Grays bumped into McDougal who offered them ten pounds a week for their silence. The Grays declined the offer. Burke and Hare quicly removed the body, but on questioning Burke claimed that Docherty had left at seven o'clock in the morning, whereas McDougal claimed she had left in the evening. The police arrested them and an anonymous tip led them to Dr. Knox's dissecting rooms where Mr. Gray identified Docherty's corpse. William and Margaret Hare were arrested soon after. There horrible murder spree that had lasted a year was over. Hare agreed to testify against Burke for immunity. On January 28th William Burke was hanged and his body publicly dissected at Edinburgh Medical College. His death mask, skeleton, and items made from his tanned skin are on display at the college's museum. McDougal was released as her part in the murders could not be proved. Dr. Knox also was not prosecuted despite public outrage. Hare had estified that Knox had not known how the bodies were procured. due to the method of murder used by Burke and Hare the term"burking" which is to smother and compress the schest of a victim is widely used today.

Eyeshadow, Lipstick and foundation.. Tricks and Tips!

Some of you do not know what "miracles" you can do with your make-up ! Did you know that you can turn your eyeshadow into eyeliner?? It's easy!! All you need is to wet the applicator (not too much) and your eyeshadow will become more intense and will result perfect if put as eyeliner!!

To make brighter colors look even brighter put a white eyeshadow on your eyelid before the bright
colored one!

Also..Did you know that you can turn your lipstick into blush for your cheeks?? All you need to do is to make two or three (depending on how dark it is) soft hints of lipstick on your cheek and fade it with your fingers till you get a blush effect! With this trick your "blush" will last longer too :P

And know a funny incredible thing I found on the internet, a video of Michelle (a make-up artist who became famous on YouTube!) totally changing her nose shape with foundation!! Take a look !!

This is also a cool video because she shows a Vampire make-up tutorial as you have seen :)

I hope this was useful to all the make-up lovers reading!

Have a nice day Gothic darlings!

PS. Sorry the video is too big for the page format..anyway you can look for it on YouTube..just write Seductive Vampire make-up tutorial.. :)

Saturday Night Movie Tip

For those of you looking for a movie to watch check out this one!! It's about one of goths most beloved theme... VAMPIRES!! (NO toilette..ehm..twilight  kind of """vampires""" XD) :P

Queen of the Damned is a 2002 film adaptation of the third novel of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series, The Queen of the Damned, although the film contains many plot elements from the latter novel's predecessor, The Vampire Lestat. It stars Aaliyah in the title role and Stuart Townsend as the vampire Lestat.

Plot of the film:

The vampire Lestat is awakened from decades of slumber by the sound of a rock band, which he proceeds to take over as lead singer. Achieving international success and planning a massive live concert, Lestat is approached by Marius, and warned that the vampires of the world will not tolerate his flamboyant public profile.

Jesse Reeves, a researcher for a paranormal studies group called the Talamasca, is intrigued by Lestat's lyrics and tells the rest of the group her theory that he really is a vampire. Her mentor takes her aside and tells her they know he is and that a vampire called Marius made him. He also shows her Lestat's journal that he recovered and is now in the Talamasca library. In a flashback to his origins, Lestat recalls how he awoke Akasha, the first vampire, with his music. Jesse tracks him down to a London vampire club where he confronts her, and she follows him to Los Angeles for the concert, where she gives him back his journal. Shortly after they leave London, Akasha, awakened by Lestat's new music, arrives and torches the club, and all the vampires inside, who hate Lestat....

2002 Comalies
2006 Karmacode
2008 Visual Karma (Body, Mind and Soul) (Live)
2009 Manifesto Of Lacuna Coil
2009 Shalow Life
Videography: Visual Karma (Body, Mind and Soul)

Lacuna Coil is a Italian Band began as Gothic Metal, Gothic Rock/Metal band losing their genre and adapting it to Alternative Rock/Metal with their last album "Shallow Life", turning to more commercial side with their sound but fortunately without losing the melancholy and some melodies. [Personaly i hope just be an experimentation stage and recover most their gothic influences]
Of my point of view they are like the sons of Paradise Lost and the Cousins of The Gathering (in their gothic metal age)
Lacuna Coil Formed in 1994 in Milán, first under the name "Sleep of right"  changing for "Ethereal", till their current name. The band currently is formed by Cristina Scabbia (voice), Andrea Ferro (voice), Cristiano Migliore (guitar), Marco Biazzi (guitar), Marco Coti Zelati (bass), Cristiano Mozzati (drums).
Begining in their first albums with sounds clearly gothic metal with the armonious voices of Cristina and the heavier voice of Andrea with the melodics guitar chords and strong riffs in ocasions, have been the characteristic of Lacuna Coil, also leaving glimpse in their songs their influences of bands as Paradise Lost, Type O Negative, Tiamat, Depeche mode.
"Lacuna Coil EP", "In a Reverie", "Halflife", "Unleashed Memories" are their first and very good albums keeping the gothic line adding in ocassions soft melodies and getting their own sound to that epoch, untill obtain the global recognition with the album "Comalies" hailed by critics and fans.
"Karmacode" is the next album, wich is the evolve of the band using hard guitars riffs and leaving a bit their old sounds. Recently released "Shallow Life" althought somewhat is different, but is their style, since somehow still preserve their gothic roots.
Other of the characteristic of Lacuna Coil, from the aesthetic point of view, each of them dress similar clothes or uniforms in their concerts or some promo pictures.
Some of their songs have been parts of sountrack as "Swamped" for Resident Evil:Apocalypse and "Our Truth" for Underworld Evolution.

Wicca and Witchcraft

Hello!! Many of you might have heard about Wicca. I took some basic info from http://www.wicca.com/ .

What's Wicca?

It's a modern religion based on ancient Witchcraft. A Wicca believer is a witch.

Wicca is a very peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of thinking and life which promotes oneness with the divine and all which exists.

"Wicca is a deep appreciation and awe in watching the sunrise or sunset, the forest in the light of a glowing moon, a meadow enchanted by the first light of day. It is the morning dew on the petals of a beautiful flower, the gentle caress of a warm summer breeze upon your skin, or the warmth of the summer sun on your face. Wicca is the fall of colorful autumn leaves, and the softness of winter snow. It is light, and shadow and all that lies in between. It is the song of the birds and other creatures of the wild. It is being in the presence of Mother Earths nature and being humbled in reverence. When we are in the temple of the Lord and Lady, we are not prone to the arrogance of human technology as they touch our souls. To be a Witch is to be a healer, a teacher, a seeker, a giver, and a protector of all things. If this path is yours, may you walk it with honor, light and integrity."

What witchcraft is NOT:

Witchcraft or Wicca is not a cult. We do not proclaim ourselves to be spokespersons for the divine or try to get others to follow us as their leaders.

We do not worship Satan or consort with Demons. Satan is a Christian creation and they can keep him. We do not need a paranoid creation of supreme evil and eternal damnation to scare us into doing the right thing and helping others. We choose to do the right thing and love our brothers and sisters because it IS the right thing and it feels good to do it. I suppose it is a maturity thing.

We do not sacrifice animals or humans because that would violate our basic tenant of "Harm None." Anyone who does and claims to be a Wiccan or a Witch is lying.

We have no need to steal or control the life force of another to achieve mystical or supernatural powers. We draw our energy from within, our personal relationship with the divine and nature.

We do not use the forces of nature or the universe to hex or cast spells on others. Again, "Harm None" is the whole of the law.

Law Of Three

Witches have a very strict belief in the Law of Three which states that whatever we send out into our world shall return to us three fold either good or bane. With this in mind, a "True Witch" would hesitate in doing magick to harm or manipulate another because that boomerang we throw will eventually come back to us much larger and harder then when we threw it.

 Who do witches worship?
There is a single power defined as the One or All, which is composed of everything it has ever created. This supreme energy force does not rule over the Universe, it IS the Universe. Since most find it difficult to talk to or call upon a faceless mass of Divine energy, this supreme power is personified into male and female aspects as the Goddess and God. This simply makes the concept easier for the human mind to comprehend and relate to. Some take this concept a step further and use actual names, like Astarte, Isis, Odin, Pan, Dianna, Cernunnos, etc., when invoking the Goddess and God. In the end, it is a personal preference and what a Witch uses depends on what "feels" right for them individually.

If Witches don't have a bible, what do they use?

Most modern Witches keep a Book of Shadows, (BOS) or Grimoire, which is more like an individuals workbook, journal, or diary, meaningful to the person who keeps it. This book contains rituals, discoveries, spells, poetry, herb lore, etc.

I suggest you to read the whole site because it's very interesting and well done ! ♥

Gothic Idols - Mana Sama

Here we are back again after the holiday break, with our beloved weekly article dedicated to special artists out there. For this week I chose model/fashion designer/musician/producer Mana Sama. Many of you might not know about who HE is. Yes..he's a HE..not a SHE..Being visually like a woman is part of his art.

Mana is a Japanese musician and fashion designer, famed for his role as a leader and guitarist of the influential visual kei band Malice Mizer. It is said that he is widely considered the figurehead of Japan's Gothic Lolita fashion movement, as he helped popularize it.

Mana was born on March 19 in Hiroshima (the year is unknown!); his real name remains unknown too despite the multiple rumours, one of them suggesting Manabu Satou. At an early age, Mana was introduced to classical music by his parents, who were both music teachers; classical music has remained an influence ever since. Mana has said that he started making music when he was in high school, at which time he listened to Mötley Crüe. Typically, Mana's compositions blend classical music (especially baroque music, featuring pipe organ and harpsichord; he also likes music by Johann Sebastian Bach) with heavy metal music, alternative rock, industrial music and other more unlikely elements such as French pop music. Famous japanese visual-kei j-rock bands he played into are Moi Dix Mois and Malice Mizer (check out the songs in the music thingy on you right! :P and I will write an article about these two bands soon!!keep in touch!!♥)

Mana has rarely intentionally smiled or spoken in public, speculated to be because his voice sounds like an Alabama trucker (XD) . In his filmed interviews, he whispers into the ear of a band member or confidante, who then relates his words back to the interviewer. He has also been known to simply look at the camera as subtitles appear, as well as using Yes/No cards and expressing himself in mime. According to him, this is because he considers his music to be his voice, and he is shy and sees no point in communicating with people who he doesn't share interests with.
