I know, you might say "why are you writing about her? she's a poser-goth"! But I think she instead deserves to enter my Gothic Idols list as she influenced many Goths especially thanks to her image and also because in my opinion she's truly a goth, even though she never said she is..but again like with Marilyn Manson it's up to us to decide wheter she's a goth or not.
Evanescence surely enter in an average goth music playlist as they do alternative-rock with that lovely dark twist we can't resist to..!
So who is Amy Lee?
Born 13th December 1981, Amy Lee, is an American singer-songwriter and classically trained pianist. She is co-founder and lead vocalist of the rock band Evanescence. She cites influences ranging from classical musicians such as Mozart to modern artists Björk, Tori Amos, Danny Elfman and Plumb.
Lee has a recognizable fashion style, marked by her occasional use of gothic make-up and taste for Victorian-styled clothing. She also designs many of her own clothes, including those worn in the music video for "Going Under", the dress she wore at the 2004 Grammy awards, and the dress worn for the cover of The Open Door. After she designed it she chose Japanese designer H. Naoto to make it for her. In concerts, she often wears a corset-top and fishnets, as well as long skirts and knee-high boots. She at one point had a piercing on her left eyebrow, which is visible on the cover of Fallen

In an interview, Amy said that the first songs she remembered writing were called "Eternity of the Remorse" and "A Single Tear". The first was written when she was eleven years old and wanted to become a classical composer, and the second was for an assignment when she was in the eighth grade.
And here's my favourite Evanescence song:
"Hello" like "Like You" is dedicated to Amy's sister who died at very young age for an unexplained illness. This song is really emotional and I consider it a manifesto of Amy's talent.
Also if you like KoRn too, Amy Lee collaborated with them for the unplugged version of Freak On A Leash. :) And she also reinterpreted famous "Sally's Song" of the Nightmare Before Christmas :)

Nice post! I think too that Amy is a real goth. she actually give goths a good image! :)She's smart and talented, and normal people love her too. I think this is great :)
I don't think Amy's a "gothposer". She is nice, beautiful and have a great voice! I always liked her.
Well I always thought that Evanescence takes more respect than they should. Of course, Amy is amazing but I wouldn't say she's a real goth. More like her own alternative style.
