Hair Dye Process pt.2

Hello again! So this is part 2 of my hair dye posting :)

Let's jump straight to it :)

1) Once the bleach has sufficiently worked (for my red dye, I only need a yellowy colour), it's time to wash it out. I recommend using cold/warmish water, as this protects your hair the best.

2) Dry your hair, so it is only a little damp. Now you need the magic formula... something called 'Toner'. The toner's you can buy from shops are blueish purple in colour (see pic below) - don't panic! This is because they counter-act the yellowness of your bleached hair, allowing for a less ''brassy'' look. It also evens out and softens the colour of the bleached hair. Apply the toner to the bleached parts, you can use your bare hands for this, and leave for an hour or so :) Maybe go grab some lunch :)

3) After an hour, rinse the toner out. You should see an improvement to the bleached parts of your hair! Dry your hair again, so it is only a LITTLE damp.

4) The messy part - Gloves on first! Using a hair dye brush (you can buy for maybe £1 in stores here), apply dye to either side of your parting. Now, part your hair a little further along, and then apply to this new parting. Do this until you have lots of new partings to your hair, all good and pasted in dye.

5) Once all your roots are covered, now you can make sure the rest of your hair is covered. I find that doing it in layers, from the bottom to the top works best for me. If you can't reach the under-layers of your hair, don't worry. Just do what you can on the top, then being very careful, tilt your head over the bath/sink and do the underneath that way.

6) Now you can abandon that brush, and get your gloves messy! Give all the dye a really good rub in, juuuuuust to be sure you've got total coverage. Now you can clip it all up, and go do something for 3 hours or so :)

6.5) 2 cups of tea later, some time on Stardoll, lots of time playing GW and listening to music, hair dye is done!

7) Tip your head back over the bath and be prepared to rinse that dye out for some time! Mine took 15 minutes to run clear, and I only have shoulder length hair. To dry your hair, make sure you use a low heat setting on your hairdryer... and finally, TA-DAAA! Beautiful new hair :)

Again, sorry for the awful photo (not the most photogenic of people), but you get a good idea of the difference between the 'normal' hair with dye, and the bleached hair with dye :) Tomorrow, I will probably add more depth to it by adding small bits of black dye.
